Contact Improvisation
Contact Improvisation emerged in Atlanta before I arrived in the mid-90‘s. I began leading the jams and teaching workshops in the Atlanta community in 2006. Being able to continuously study the forces of gravity and momentum in partnership with our senses fosters a sense of humility and true connection with others. I facilitated Contact Improvisation jams consistently for about six years and today I am part of a cohort of facilitators. https://www.facebook.com/AtlantaContact/
Contact Improvisation is a form of movement where two bodies share weight, in contact through the skin. It plays with the artistry of falling off balance, counterbalance, finding the shelves of the body, and sharing through an ever-changing physical point of contact. The form and practice were originally developed by Steve Paxton, Nancy Stark Smith, Danny Lepkoff, Lisa Nelson, Karen Nelson, Nita Little, Andrew Harwood, Peter Bingham, and Ray Chung.
