Suarez and Teague weave together Inner narratives about how they are percieved and labeled in "Rule of Thumb."
Participants pour water from one vessel to another over a four-hour period.

Movement Research

I create with moving artists who are curious and brave enough to excavate inner narratives.  This is the power of “we”.  My choreography expresses how gendered bodies respond to societal norms; how landmarks in our lives transform our identity; how we distinctively survive loss; and how we relate to natural environments and uninhabited spaces.

Dance making and activism are intertwined. In collaboration with others, we delve into critical questions that address complex issues-privilege, freedom, power, identity, and femininity. The choreographic process encourages different perspectives, styles, and instincts to interact, creating more potential for positive social and environmental change to occur. Every rehearsal is a series of structured improvisations where the cast and I gain access to natural, authentic states of being. Expressing emotion, action, and imagery in these states becomes an act of living in the body’s center, where movement unveils unique textures and the complexities of our identity. I continue to invest in these natural states because there is a lively interplay of our internal connections with the natural world.
